Throughout the year, the Ministry of Defence operate a live firing range from Straight Point (at Sandy Bay / Devon Cliffs).

Public safety in the vicinity of the danger area out to sea is a priority and is managed by the Ministry of Defence by using radar, cameras, lookout sentries and a dedicated Range Safety Boat, ‘Smit Cerne’.

It is essential that you do not venture into the danger area when the range is in use.

If you plan to transit this area when the range is in use be aware that the danger area extends a long way out to sea.
